Money Insanto

Living in the country and sharecropping you get real close to issues about how our food production is managed. Recently we learned about Monsanto, and their practices to engineer life in their seeds, and legally bind those who use them. Some recent dirty dealing that slipped protection of corporate greed into a recent US bill and lost legal challenges brings this all back to mind.

Here are lyrics I wrote for Money Insanto out of frustration and disgust, and Nic Yown's demo.

Money Insanto

New harvests for you all
In the dark shadows of fall
DNA's conscription
Nature's new destruction
Money's gene sequence
We'll pay in consequence

Franken food is made of stuff
You cannot ever trust
It wasn't meant to be food
They eat it because they must
Makes money for Insanto
Money for the greed

You better shred that pollen
shred that pollen
You better shred that pollen
Hide the evidence
Shred that pollen
Shred that pollen
The species are fallin
Hide that pollen

They made a new plant lock
Lock up all the seed
To profits they all flock
Lock up all the seed
Now farm with chained up feet
To feed those on Wall Street

Deputize the lawyers
Make farmers of them yet
Sue the real farm workers
They have all that they will get
This is more than just plant breeding
This is life reengineering

You better Shred that pollen
shred that pollen
You better shred that pollen
Hide the evidence
Shred that pollen
Shred that pollen
The species are fallin
Hide that pollen

New Harvests for you all
In the dark shadows of fall
Food's a human right
that chemical denies
Don't make it need your spray
Or the profits you rely
